“The beginning of this outfit (SAYEMI) defies human understanding and logic. Sometime in July, 1996, the presiding Bishop of Living Faith church launched a creativity supporting scheme and announced to the congregation to apply for loans. On the last Tuesday of September 1996, I was writing my application when a voice came to me; ‘my son you don’t need money, but an idea to choke the devil! I replied and said ‘God I don’t have an idea.’
The voice came again and said; ‘turn the back of the paper now, and I will give you an idea.’ I did so and God dictated to me how to make food and spices. My first challenge was how am I going to cope? My educational background was Language Education, but this vision has to do with science! As if this was not enough, at the church the following Sunday, Bishop Oyedepo preached on ‘integrity in business’ and used Heinz as a practical modern day example. The following Monday, in a supermarket, I saw a product, labeled Heinz. I picked it up and checked the label, I saw boldly written on it, ‘Health Food!’…The following weekend, I saw an article in the newspaper, ‘your medicine is in your kitchen!’ That was how I settled down into research to the medicinal values of food.
The first thing I detested in the claim of herbal practitioners was the claim, ‘I inherited it from my father!’ That was why orthodox doctors make jest of us that our claims lack empirical proof. I made up my mind to change this, and that was why I invested in a lot of research. This has really helped my practice a lot.
